Ricky Carmichael was officially inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame at the Bradenton Area Convention Center on November 19, joining other of the state’s sports legends like Tampa Bay Buccaneers all-time touchdown leader Mike Alstott and Hall of Fame MLB manager Jim Leyland.

In his 12 years of professional racing in the Supercross and Motocross Championships, Carmichael, who was raised in Havana and lives in Tallahassee, compiled the most combined victories (161) and championships (16).
“To be inducted into a Hall of Fame is always an honor, very humbling,” said the 45-year-old Carmichael, who turns 46 on Thanksgiving Day. “But to do it in the state of Florida—and you are amongst traditional sports’ athletes, icons of that given discipline sport—it’s special.” CN
