As if the offense didn’t already have its issues, the Philadelphia Eagles have new injury concerns going into their Black Friday game against the Chicago Bears.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith is dealing with shoulder and chest injuries while Saquon Barkley is battling a groin issue, according to the Eagles’ Tuesday practice report.
The Eagles didn’t practice on Tuesday, instead holding a walkthrough. So these are estimations.
But if the Eagles practiced, Smith wouldn’t have participated. Barkley would have been limited.
Barkley popping up on the injury report isn’t a huge surprise. Barkley said after Sunday’s game that he was healthy. But he showed up on the injury report earlier in the season with a groin injury. It seems as though it’s just something Barkley is playing through.
Smith, meanwhile, was not available to speak with reporters after the 24-21 loss to Dallas. He played well, securing six catches for 89 yards, including a 41-yard circus grab.
Smith has been arguably the Eagles’ best offensive player this season with a team-leading 55 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns. He would be a significant absence on Friday.
The Eagles’ offense is already dealing with a multi-week foot injury to right tackle Lane Johnson. The five-time All-Pro did not play vs. Dallas and is expected to be out at least a few weeks.
Starting safety Andrew Mukuba, who fractured his foot against the Cowboys, and defensive end Brandon Graham (groin) were also listed as “did not participate” on the injury report.
