Despite defensive issues, Bengals predicted to draft Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love

With the [Cincinnati Bengals](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/cincinnati-bengals) having one of the worst defenses in the NFL, it almost feels safe to say that the front office will do what’s right during the NFL Draft and land someone who can help them defensively long term.

However, it also isn’t the worst idea to get some more assets for Joe Burrow to run this offense at a high level, especially as he comes back from injury and continues to play the type of football he’s capable of.

Mike Renner of CBS Sports recently predicted that to be the case, projecting the Bengals to select Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame.

“Obviously the Bengals need help defensively, but they've spent so much draft capital on that side of the ball in recent years that free agency might be where they have to turn to fix things. Adding Love to their room of playmakers gives them a terrifying amount of speed,” [he wrote](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2026-nfl-mock-draft-thin-qb-class-desperate-teams/).

Love has been one of the better running backs in the country this year, and while selecting a running back with a top-10 pick isn’t always ideal, he has certainly warranted it with his play.

He’s currently averaging a ridiculous 7.1 yards per carry, rushing for 1,136 yards on 185 carries, and has scored 17 rushing touchdowns.
