Thierry Henry has claimed that he was reminded of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs while watching Estevao Willian's performance during Chelsea's 3-0 win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, November 25.
Estevao stepped up for Enzo Maresca's side in Cole Palmer's absence and gave a stellar performance against a ten-man Barcelona. Playing at Stamford Bridge, the deadlock was broken in the 27th minute, after Jules Kounde scored an own goal.
Roland Aruajo was sent off in the 44th minute after receiving two yellow cards within 12 minutes. Estevao doubled Chelsea's lead in the second half, courtesy of Reece James' assist (55'). Later, Liam Delap netted the third goal for the Blues in the 73rd minute, making the score 3-0.
Estevao, who scored Chelsea's second goal, also created three chances in the match, the most by any player. After the game, Thierry Henry stated that the 18-year-old reminded him of Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs. He said on the CBS Sports Punditry panel (via Metro):
"You wouldn't like to play against him. I'm not saying that you wouldn't be able to stop him but he's coming at you all the time. He's reminding me of... I know it's early doors... But that's why I think Ryan Giggs was one of the best because he was coming at you all the game."
"Whether he's having a good game or not a good game, he's trying to test you all the time and see if you're going to stop him or not. That's how it is as a winger." He added.
Estevao has also become only the third teenager in history to score in each of his initial three UEFA Champions League starts, after Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
Chelsea and Manchester United interested in signing 19-year-old Bundesliga midfielder: Reports
Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing RB Leipzig's Assan Ouedraogo. According to Sky Sport (via GOAL), both Premier League sides are monitoring the 19-year-old, who scored on his senior international debut for Germany on November 17.
Ouedraogo joined Leipzig from Schalke last year on a five-year deal. His contract with Leipzig is set to expire in the summer of 2029, and he doesn't have a release clause. As a result, the club will set the 19-year-old's transfer fee, which is expected to be steep and could only be triggered in the summer transfer window with a top offer.
Assan Ouedraogo has made 12 appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists across all competitions. As per the aforementioned report, RB Leipzig also view the 19-year-old as an asset. However, Ouedraogo is expected to stay on the sidelines for a few weeks due to a knee injury he sustained during his side's 2-0 win over Werder Bremen.
