Breaking Down The Alex Wright Cleveland Browns Extension

Alex Wright was half way through his fourth year with the team meaning he would have been a free agent at the end of the season.

Here is his previous rookie contract before the extension. There was a pay rise in the fourth season due to the Proven Performance Escalator rules. He just managed to achieve the threshold of playing over 35% of snaps in two of his first three seasons or over his first three seasons combined. This earned him an extra $1,979,149 in 2025.
