Estevao hailed a “perfect night” after his dazzling display against Barcelona and talked up the connection he has already built with Chelsea fans.

The 18-year-old starred as Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday with a statement performance in the Champions League

Estevao outshone Lamine Yamal and scored a brilliant solo goal when the left-footed Brazilian danced through the Barcelona defence before firing home from a narrow angle.

His performance led to comparisons with Lionel Messi and Estevao, who joined from Palmeiras in a £51million move in the summer, and former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin said: "Start believing the hype."

In message to Chelsea fans, Estevao said: “It really was the perfect night.

“From the moment I arrived here, I felt such a connection with the fans. I'm just so happy that I could score for them and make them happy. I hope to keep making them happy and score more goals for them.

“It was definitely the best moment of my career so far. I want to score many more for many years.”

For his goal, Estevao jinked past Pau Cubarsi and Alejandro Balde before smashing the ball high past Joan Garcia.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, Estevao said: "It all happened very quickly for me, it sort of happened before I knew it.
