“We dominated” – Chelsea player shushes Spanish media as Barcelona hype produces nothing

Chelsea secured a 3-0 win over Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

After the match, Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez spoke to Spanish reporters in the mixed zone. Cadena Ser have relayed his comments.

The 28-year-old Spaniard heaped praise on Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella’s strong performance against Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

Prior to the clash, there was a hype in Spain about the possibility of Yamal causing trouble for Chelsea. In the pre-match press conference, Cucurella even joked about being ready to face his compatriot.

The 27-year-old came out on top as Yamal didn’t cause any damage to the Blues. The winger was replaced by Dani Olmo in the 80th minute.

Cadena Set state: ‘Yamal had a poor match against Chelsea. His football was unrecognisable, with hardly any dribbling, and every time he tried, he met the same fate: Cucurella’s body.’

The stopper has singled out Cucurella’s display. He said: “He [Cucurella] had him [Yamal] in his pocket.”

Cadena Ser state Sánchez’s response silenced the Spanish journalist.

They add it hasn’t gone down well with a section of the Barcelona supporters.

Chelsea player: “I know the quality we have”

Lamine Yamal scored for Barcelona and was one of the key players.

Barcelona were down to 10 men after Ronald Araújo was sent off right before the break. Despite this, the goalkeeper insists Chelsea dominated from the first minute.

“The red card gave us a slight advantage, but we dominated the game from minute one. We scored a lot of goals, three of them offside. I’m very happy with the victory,” Sánchez explained.

Enzo Maresca said Chelsea’s plan was to exploit Barca’s defensive weakness. Sánchez also pointed this out in the mixed zone.

“I know the quality we have. We know how they played. We’ve faced them and won head-to-head,” he added.

“In matches against big rivals, we always rise to the occasion. We’re a team that always rises to the occasion in big moments. We’ve done it once again. It’s just another game.”
