Antoine Semenyo has emerged as one of the most coveted attackers in the Premier League this season, and Liverpool are positioning themselves firmly at the front of the queue to secure his signature when the January window opens.
The Ghana international has been in scintillating form for Bournemouth, registering six goals and three assists in just 12 league appearances this campaign.
That electric output has not gone unnoticed at Anfield, where sporting director Richard Hughes holds a significant advantage in any potential deal – he was the man who brought Semenyo to the Vitality Stadium from Bristol City back in January 2023.
DaveOCKOP already exclusively reported that the Reds have held positive exploratory talks with Bournemouth over the signing.
Semenyo put pen to paper on fresh terms at the Vitality Stadium in July, with the deal featuring a £60 million release clause plus a further £5 million in add-ons that can be triggered during the January window.
Now the Telegraph have reported that Bournemouth are fully expecting offers to come in for their star player in the January window.
Chris Bascombe has also revealed that the summer clause for Semenyo will drop to £50m but not below that.
The Bournemouth star rejected £50m approaches from both Manchester United and Tottenham last summer before signing his new long-term deal at Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola, speaking in his pre-West Ham press conference on Friday, has asserted he is “not worried” about the January window:
“We are in November, Antoine [Semenyo] is our player, he will continue to be our player,” the Spaniard said.
“In January, you can ask me about the market.”
“But right now, I am not worried about the next market. I am not worried about the situation.”
“In January, we will talk about whatever happened, the players we need.”
