Milwaukee’s own Tyler Herro makes admission before Bucks-Heat

The Miami Heat are set to host the Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks this Wednesday at Kaseya Center in Miami, which will also be Tyler Herro’s second game back after a long absence.

Herro, who made his 2025-26 NBA season debut last Tuesday against Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks and made an immediate positive impact. The Milwaukee native led Miami with 24 points on an efficient 12-for-18 shooting from the field to go with seven rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes for the Heat’s 106-102 win.

Herro, who attended Whitnall High School in Milwaukee County before taking his talents to Lexington, Kentucky, to play college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats, had a delayed start to his seventh season in the NBA as he recovered from an offseason ankle surgery. Even though he’s back in action, Herro admitted that there’s still work being done to fully recover.

“I still got to rehab, recover,” Herro said, perAnthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

“I easily could have probably waited another two weeks to come back, but I’m healthy enough to be out there, and I want to be out there. So that was most important to me. I kind of circled this date probably three or four weeks ago. And then I was like, ‘I’m ready. Forget it, I’m ready.’ I took the last couple days when the team was on the road just to prepare my body for tonight, and it was a lot of fun to go out there and compete and ultimately win.”

While the Heat have won their last five games, the Bucks have gone 0-5 over the same stretch. The absence of Antetokounmpo, who is dealing with a groin injury, has greatly affected Milwaukee, which is coming off a 115-103 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Ryan Rollins, Bobby Portis, Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma are among those the Bucks are counting on to lead them against the red-hot Heat.
