Even those who are struggling to buy in to the hype around Chelsea will have been impressed with what they saw from the Blues against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Chelsea won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to take them up to fifth in the group stages of the competition, giving them a great chance again at automatically qualifying for the Round of 16.

Estevao Willian stole the show with his brilliant goal in the second half, putting Lamine Yamal on notice that there is a new wonderkid on the block who is taking all the headlines.

Enzo Maresca shuts up Jamie Carragher with Chelsea victories over Barcelona and Liverpool

This follows a season where Enzo Maresca delivered two trophies to the club, including the Club World Cup triumph in the United States.

Back in August, Jamie Carragher was dismissive of Chelsea’s victory across the pond, making the point that it was not so impressive because they hadn’t had to beat the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona on the road to the final.

He said to The Overlap: “It’s not a proper competition, how can you be Champions of the World if the Champions of England, Spain and Italy weren’t even in it.”

Since then, the Blues have downed Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, and last night proved they were by far the superior side against Barcelona.

They will have the chance to complete the hat-trick when they meet Antonio Conte’s Napoli side later on in the group stages.

Carragher’s ongoing feud with Chelsea

Carragher has praised Maresca for the work he is doing in West London, however seems to sometimes make comments with the intention of riling up the Blues fanbase.

He predicted Chelsea wouldn’t qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League, despite the fact that 24 sides would reach that point in the competition.#

Carragher laughed off claims Chelsea could win the Premier League, but a win against Arsenal at the weekend would leave the Blues just three points behind the league leaders.

The Blues still have a way to go to prove all the doubters wrong, but they are slowly proving that they are a force to be reckoned with this season in all competitions.
