Mikel Arteta says Arsenal “have to carry the energy” of a special North London Derby win into tomorrow’s Champions League game with Bayern Munich.

For the Gunners, the attention switches back to the UEFA Champions League, following the incredible North London Derby win over Tottenham on Sunday, as they prepare to face Bayern Munich.

Tomorrow’s match at Arsenal Stadium will see the top two in the league phase table face off, with Bayern sitting at the top due to the fact they have scored more goals than the Gunners.

Both sides are perfect in the UEFA Champions League with four wins out of four so far and sit top of their respective domestic leagues. Arsenal moved six points clear in the Premier League with the derby win, while also Bayern Munich are six points clear in the Bundesliga having dropped just one point all season in a 2-2 thriller with Union Berlin.

The Gunners head into Wednesday night looking for a 16th consecutive league phase/group stage win since returning back to the UEFA Champions League in 2023/24, though Bayern will be one of the hardest tests they have faced in that time.

After such a brilliant result and atmosphere in North London on Sunday, the Arsenal manager wants to keep the positive energy around the club heading into tomorrow evening’s blockbuster fixture.

“Yes, I do (feel the positive energy), " said Arteta.

“We must make sure that we carry that energy tomorrow to the stadium, to each individual.

“Also make sure that we play with the same dominance and aggression and efficiency against a top side.”

“We have to have the same intention to win it.

“We’ve had a short but good preparation for it again. We know the importance of this match.

“We’re in a strong position (in the league phase) and we would like to maintain that. We know that we have a very beautiful and demanding game ahead of us.”
