Kevin Patullo makes it crystal clear who is running the Eagles' offense

Philadelphia Eagles fans can't walk around Broad Street in Philly without someone asking the same question: Should the Eagles fire Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator?

It's been the burning question on radio and television in Philadelphia all week, with calls for Patullo to lose his play-calling duties after the Eagles failed to score a single point in the second half of their 24-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12.

That has brought up other topics of discussion, including how the play calls are determined and whether Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni ever steps in to say what he wants. Patullo was asked whether Sirianni steps in to dictate the play calls, and the offensive coordinator made it clear that he runs the show.

"No. We talk about situations as they come up, like down-and-distance, fourth downs, and things like that. But that's really it."

Patullo is owning the Eagles' failures of the offense

Not sure if this is the hill Patullo wants to climb, but he makes it clear he'll make the decision. That only means one thing: the blame has to be solely on him for the problems this offense has week after week.

Patullo is leading one of the worst offenses, statistically and eyeball-test-wise, in the NFL. They are ranked 24th in the NFL in total offense with 303.6 yards per game and are ranked 23rd in passing with 193.2. Adding in the 21st rushing offense in the league with 110.5 yards per game, and Eagles fans have their offense in a nutshell.

All the heat on Patullo has been on the play-calling and on being too predictable with what they are doing. Eagles receiver A.J. Brown got called out last week based on his alignment on what kind of route he was going to run because of the play Patullo had for him.

Remarkably, there have been multiple people within the Eagles organization who have defended Patullo. People like Sirianni and left tackle Jordan Mailata have taken some of the blame off of Patullo.

The reality is, the offense is struggling, and the only major change to the unit from the 2024 Super Bowl championship team is Patullo as offensive coordinator. Put two and two together, and Eagles fans get Patullo having this offense looking the worst the franchise has seen in a long time. Use that information however it needs to be used.
