'I was devastated': Jordan Pickford names the Everton player he wanted to see play more vs Man…

Despite the early sending off, just about everything went right for Everton on Monday evening in their victory over Manchester United.

A night that won’t be forgotten in a hurry was experienced by those travelling Everton fans at Old Trafford.

Even Man United fans praised Everton’s away support as the Toffees brought the noise for their first Premier League win at the Theatre of Dreams in 12 years.

David Moyes did experience a number of headaches in the early stages of the game, though.

The sending off for Idrissa Gana Gueye was by far the biggest obstacle that Everton had to deal with, as they faced 77 minutes with just 10 men.

However, there was another issue which left Jordan Pickford absolutely devastated.

Jordan Pickford left upset after Seamus Coleman’s latest injury

Everton News readers thought Pickford was Everton’s Man of the Match after making some sensational saves to keep yet another clean sheet.

But the England number one was left disappointed after he saw Seamus Coleman go down with an injury in the early stages of the game.

Where does Jordan Pickford rank among Premier League goalkeepers?

Speaking to Liverpool Echo, Pickford has shared his frustration in seeing the 37-year-old defender withdrawn in the opening 10 minutes of the game.

“I was devastated for Seamie because everyone knows what type of lad he is, everyone knows how hard working he is and he thoroughly deserved his chance (only) to come off injured but then Jake’s straight on and puts in a great shift,” he said after the game.

“That’s what a team is, don’t dwell on not getting picked, be ready when you get called upon and that’s what all the subs did tonight.”

Coleman’s injury also surprised Moyes, given the right-back has played such few minutes this season for the Blues.

The issue now leaves Moyes with a real worry as he has only one natural right-back fit for the upcoming festive period.

Jake O’Brien simply must remain fit for Everton

Last week, Moyes admitted he was considering Coleman as a starter for the game against United after what he had seen from the 37-year-old.

Everton News understands that, in January, Everton will look to sign a new full-back to strengthen their quality and depth.

This has to be one of the saves of the season!

Where would Everton be without him?

However, until then, the Toffees are now going to be relying on O’Brien to remain fit given James Garner is now needed again in midfield.

Everton’s depth is being tested ahead of December, which is surely providing Moyes with some concerns heading into the busiest period on the fixture list.

Moyes has demanded more from O’Brien, with the Irishman now set for a return to the starting XI for Newcastle United’s visit on Saturday.
