Leeds United travel to the Etihad Stadium this Saturday for a tricky test against Manchester City.
Daniel Farke takes his side to face Pep Guardiola while on a dismal run of six defeats in the last seven Premier League games, and another loss could see the German handed his P45 – Sam Allardyce has already tipped Steven Gerrard for the job.
Should Leeds sack Daniel Farke?
Manchester City presumably won’t be scared of many Leeds players with the Whites now in the relegation zone, but Guardiola has previously highlighted the talents of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
What Pep Guardiola has said about Dominic Calvert-Lewin
The Spaniard has previously hailed Calvert-Lewin when speaking about the England international back in 2022, shortly after a 2020/21 campaign in which the striker scored 21 goals for Everton.
Guardiola is quoted by the Mirror as saying: “When he is on top, he’s exceptional.
“Long balls, second balls in the box. He’s a dangerous player.”
Prediction for Leeds v Man City:
MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES
Calvert-Lewin has a decent record against Guardiola, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 13 appearances against his Manchester City side, but he has never tasted victory in any of those games.
Pep Guardiola also likes Leeds United No.14 Lukas Nmecha
The man born in Santpedor has also praised another of Farke’s strikers in Lukas Nmecha.
It was Guardiola who handed the German his Premier League debut back in April 2018 during a 4-1 win over West Ham, when the forward was just 19 years, four months and 15 days old.
As Nmecha, who scored on his Leeds debut, rose to prominence, the 54-year-old said: “Lukas has great prospects. He’s hungry, he takes in everything you tell him.”
Who would you start up front for Leeds?
The Leeds No.14 can boast two goals in his last two Premier League appearances after netting against Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, but Farke has a decision to make over whether to bring Calvert-Lewin back into the fold after he recovered from a hamstring injury.
The former Everton man has only bagged one goal in ten Premier League appearances so far this season, whereas Nmecha has three in 12 games, so judging by the numbers alone, the latter deserves to keep his spot.
