Arsenal's absent stars giving their teammates with a guard of honour after the north London derby speaks volumes about the current atmosphere around the club.

The Gunners emerged as dominant 4-1 winners against Tottenham at the weekend, with summer signing Eberechi Eze celebrating his first derby appearance with a hat-trick. Leandro Trossard scored the first goal, and despite a spectacular 50-yard effort from Richarlison, Spurs were forced to depart the Emirates Stadium without any points.

After that performance, the injured members of the Arsenal squad - including Gabriel, Martin Odegaard and Viktor Gyokeres - made their way to the dressing rooms ahead of schedule to welcome their teammates with applause.

This demonstration of solidarity and admiration reflects the environment that has developed under Mikel Arteta and might serve as the cornerstone for the north London club to eventually secure the Premier League crown again. Over the past three campaigns, the Gunners have ended the season as runners-up to either Manchester City or Liverpool.

However, with a six-point advantage established at the top and teams like Liverpool struggling in 11th position, this season might prove decisive for Arteta's squad to finally claim the title.

Following the derby encounter, the Spanish manager hailed his team in what he described as a "day to remember." Arteta said: "Well, a great day. I enjoyed every minute of it, from the preparation, since the moment that the players came back from international duty.

"I sensed a feeling that they wanted to be together again, that they were ready for a fight, they were ready for a big week, and the preparation was top.

"Then you have to deliver it, obviously, with the energy that our people brought to the stadium. It made a huge difference. I think individually the players were exceptional from minute one.

"They were super dominant in almost every phase of the play. So, yeah, a day to remember. You don't win a derby 4-1 every time, and hopefully we made a lot of Arsenal supporters very proud and happy."

The Gunners face a challenging period ahead with an unbeaten Bayern Munich side arriving in north London, followed by a demanding trip to Stamford Bridge at the weekend. Despite this challenge, Arteta is confident his players can channel the positives from their Tottenham triumph into Europe and finish the week on another successful note.

He said: "We have to make sure we carry that energy back to the stadium tomorrow, to each individual, and play with the same dominant aggression and efficiency against a top side.

"We have the same intention to win it, we've had a really good preparation again, a really short one, but we've been very efficient as well. We know the importance of the match, we are in a really strong position, we want to maintain that for sure and we know that we have a beautiful and very demanding game ahead of us."
