Liverpool is at the centre of discussion in the Netherlands, as Feyenoord manager Robin van Persie revealed that he has been in contact with Arne Slot during the club’s difficult run.
Speaking to [**1908.nl**](https://1908.nl/artikelen/van-persie-heeft-contact-met-slot-we-kampen-met-vergelijkbare-uitdagingen), the Dutch coach explained that he recently exchanged messages with the Liverpool manager and that both are facing similar challenges in their respective leagues.
Van Persie told the Dutch outlet that Slot had reached out earlier in the week, and he made sure to respond in kind. _“Slot sent me a very nice message. I replied, and we expressed our appreciation for each other’s work,”_ he said.
The Feyenoord manager then drew a parallel between their situations. _“Both teams are going through a complicated period. Liverpool often play excellently, but still lose regularly. In broad terms, our challenges run parallel.”_
He stressed that results have not shaken either manager’s belief in their approach. _“It is about staying true to your principles and executing your tasks well. If you do that consistently, there is a good chance things will turn around soon. The same applies to Arne and Liverpool.”_
Van Persie, who worked under Slot during his coaching formation at Feyenoord, praised the Liverpool manager’s ability to remain balanced. _“Arne deals with setbacks fantastically. He keeps following his method, works hard and stays critical, but in a constructive way. That is exactly the approach you need.”_
He added that his own squad rely on the same internal structure to navigate pressure. _“Our strength lies in our way of working and in who we are. By improving every day and sticking to our approach, setbacks hit the players less. They handle challenges well and remain resilient.”_
Liverpool now wait to see whether Slot’s consistency and internal calm can produce the turnaround both Dutch coaches expect.
