Dowman struck twice during a 4-2 win for Arsenal against Bayern Munich’s Under-19 side on Tuesday afternoon.

Yil Gashi had put Bayern ahead in the first half, but Dowman equalised before the break to ensure the teams went in all square.

The Gunners went 3-1 up thanks to goals from Kyran Thompson and Ceadach O’Neill, however they faced a nervy finish when Ljubo Puljic pulled one back for Bayern.

Dowman sealed the win with the final kick of the game, though, by scoring a spectacular solo goal.

Picking the ball up just outside the right side of Bayern’s penalty area, the 15-year-old cut inside and beat two players.

Dowman skipped past a third Bayern defender with a ‘Maradona turn’, before dinking the ball over the goalkeeper.

The midfielder has had a meteoric rise over the past six months, making his senior debut for Arsenal and becoming the youngest player in Champions League history.

Dowman has also represented England at Under-19 level, despite the fact he will not turn 16 until next month.

He has agreed to sign scholarship terms with Arsenal next summer and will be eligible to sign a professional contract in December next year.

Arsenal’s win over Bayern on Tuesday was a memorable one as Luis Munoz made history by becoming the youngest player to ever feature in the UEFA Youth League.

Munoz, who is 13, came off the bench for Arsenal with five minutes left of the game.

The midfielder is now the youngest player to play in the UEFA Youth League, beating the previous record that was held by Liam Payas.

Payas was 14 years and 93 days old when he played for Lincoln Red Imps in September of last year.
