The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t land a holiday primetime slot, but the six games that did have cleared the way for a nice viewing experience for most fans this Sunday. The Steelers’ game against the Buffalo Bills will be shown to almost the entire country on Sunday afternoon at 4:25 PM ET.
Here is this week’s TV map from 506 Sports. All areas marked in red will show the Steelers-Bills game on CBS.
While the Steelers and Bills are both struggling this season, they have been two of the constant playoff teams in the AFC over the last few years. And the only game they had to compete with for television markets is the Las Vegas Raiders versus the Los Angeles Chargers. That’s not exactly a barn burner.
CBS gave this game to its A team of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo. It will be the first time this season that the Steelers have had this broadcasting duo, and the first time they’ve played in the late-afternoon slot.
While Mike Tomlin expressed optimism about Aaron Rodgers returning from injury, it’s possible this will feature a 2023 Wild Card round rematch between Josh Allen and Mason Rudolph. The last one didn’t end so well for the Steelers, but this one will be played at home and without frigid, snowy weather conditions.
The Bills are 7-4 and in control of an AFC Wild Card spot for the time being. The Steelers are 6-5, and on the outside looking in. This game could have huge implications in conference tiebreakers at the end of the season, so there are plenty of playoff storylines to track.
Each team has had its share of ups and downs this season. Which versions will show up to play on Sunday? Will it be the Steelers team that took down the Colts and Patriots or the one that lost to the Bengals? And will it be the Bills team that beat the Ravens, Chiefs, and Buccaneers, or the one that got blown out by the Dolphins?
Vegas oddsmakers have the Steelers as 3.5-point underdogs for the time being, but this one could prove to be quite unpredictable.
