The opening 12 games of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign have presented a number of lessons already for Everton to grow from.
Monday evening’s victory at Old Trafford was certainly one of the highlights of Everton’s season in defying the odds to claim an unlikely win.
David Moyes has not got everything right this season, but he certainly did on Monday night against his former club.
The Toffees have naturally been heavily praised on the back of Monday’s win, with Gary Neville praising James Garner in particular.
But it was definitely an all-round team effort, which saw Moyes’ side leapfrog Liverpool in the Premier League table.
Everton News columnist Alan Myers now thinks there is a clear lesson to be learned from The Friedkin Group ahead of the January transfer window.

The Friedkin Group must learn from Everton’s win over Man United
Everton News understands that Everton are searching for a new full-back in the January transfer window.
Monday’s game highlighted just that, with Seamus Coleman withdrawn in the opening minutes of the game at Old Trafford.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Speaking in his Everton News column on Tuesday, Myers has urged the Friedkins to back Moyes in January on the back of what they will have seen in their latest victory.

‘I’ve said several times a right back should be right up there on the ‘what we need list’ when the January window opens. I think they will bring one in for sure, along with a striker option,’ said the Everton News columnist.
‘But if TFG have learned anything after the victory at Old Trafford, it’s that this manager and team are giving everything, but they need help, they need bodies.’
Everton are keen to sign an attack-minded right-back, who would be able to give Moyes that balance he is demanding from his full-backs offering a creative outlet.
Having seen another right-back fall to injury in Coleman, the Everton owners are going to have no other choice but to back the manager with some more additions in January.
Everton investment must continue from the summer
Coming into the season, Moyes was delighted with Everton’s transfer business done over the summer window.
However, the 62-year-old also made it clear that not every requirement could be ticked off in the space of just one summer.
David Moyes on Everton’s European hopes
“I really hope I can earn the opportunity to get back into European football here at Everton.”
That business is going to have to continue into the January market if Everton are to reach their goals for the season.
Moyes is wanting Everton to target European qualification this term.
With just a three-point gap to fourth spot, there is no reason why the Blues should not have one eye on doing something really special.
On the back of some of the injury and suspension woes suffered on Merseyside, the Friedkins must put their hands in their pockets again in January to provide Moyes sufficient backing.
