Marseille 2-1 Newcastle United post match reaction
Newcastle United latest news: Everton are facing a potential mini-injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The Toffees will head into that game on the back of an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Despite being reduced to ten men early on following Idrissa Gana Gueye’s red card, Everton held their own and took all three points courtesy of a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall strike.
However, they didn’t leave the Theatre of Dreams unscathed and will have to deal without the services of Gueye who will begin the first of a three-match ban this weekend. Moyes was given a fresh headache even before the Senegal international was handed his marching orders after being forced into an early substitution when Seamus Coleman was withdrawn through injury.
Coleman had represented the Republic of Ireland during the most recent international break, but lasted just ten minutes on his first Everton start of the season on Monday night. Whilst a timescale on the veteran fullback’s possible absence has not yet been provided, he is regarded as a doubt to feature on Saturday evening when they welcome Eddie Howe’s side to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time.
Whilst Coleman’s potential absence is a blow for Everton, Gueye’s suspension will cause Moyes a major headache. As it stands, the Toffees have just Dewsbury-Hall, James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam fit for Saturday’s game, according to Liverpool World.
The former of those has shone as a number ten in recent weeks and Moyes will likely be reluctant to shift him back into a more orthodox midfield role, although his hand could be forced. Loanee Merlin Rohl is also sidelined with a hernia.

Behind them, Jarrad Branthwaite is also not fully fit as he is slowly reintroduced to the first-team after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury last month. Nathan Patterson has also been sidelined by injury recently.

The Magpies also have a few injury worries to deal with this weekend. Yoane Wissa remains sidelined with a knee injury and is not expected to make his long awaited debut for Newcastle United this weekend.
The former Brentford man could return to action in the next few weeks, although his return is complicated by the upcoming African Cup of Nations which begins next month. Elsewhere, Kieran Trippier is also regarded as a major doubt to feature against the Toffees.
Trippier missed Saturday’s win over Manchester City with a hamstring injury and did not travel to France with his teammates on Tuesday. Speaking earlier this week, Howe confirmed that Trippier could be sidelined for a ‘few weeks’: “He had a hamstring problem just right at the end of training yesterday, so fingers crossed it’s not too bad,” Howe said.
“I don’t think it’s too serious, but it might be enough to keep him out for a few weeks.”
Emil Krafth also remains sidelined with an injury. The Swedish international did travel to Marseille, but was not deemed fit enough to feature on the bench at the Stade Velodrome.
