With the January transfer window fast approaching, Liverpool are expected to enter the market with a few positions they could strengthen. The Reds have struggled for form this season, with questions appearing over Arne Slot and how he can fix the concerns surrounding the team.

That is despite a £450m summer transfer spend, with several high-profile signings struggling to hit the ground running in the early months of their Liverpool career. January is viewed as an opportunity to change some of that, with several targets already emerging for the market ahead.

One of those is Antoine Semenyo, who is appearing as a serious target for Liverpool over the next few months.

So, with that said, here's a look at the latest on Semenyo's potential move from Bournemouth to Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Liverpool eye Antoine Semenyo in three-player shortlist

Liverpool are set to move quickly in the January transfer window, as several positions need to be addressed before it slams shut in February.

Reports have stated that the Reds want Semenyo, as they search for a winger who can make an "immediate impact", with his form at Bournemouth certainly suggesting he may be able to do just that.

That is along with a centre-back, as Marc Guehi has been outlined as a key target once again, alongside a potential new striker addition, depending on the options available.

Antoine Semenyo's Bournemouth release clause

While Bournemouth are keen to keep hold of Semenyo for the rest of the season, they could be powerless to stop Liverpool from landing him.

That's because, according to The Athletic, there is a release clause in the forward's deal worth £65m, which can be activated as soon as January.

That clause must be activated by a certain date, however, to give Bournemouth ample time to find a replacement. That means Liverpool may have to act swiftly and decisively in the market to get the deal over the line before any rivals interfere.

Liverpool's rivals interested in Antoine Semenyo transfer

While Liverpool are showing a keen interest in Semenyo, they aren't the only team who are keeping a keen eye on the winger for this January.

That's because, according to Sky Sports, fellow Premier League sides Manchester City and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the Bournemouth star.

Andoni Iraola on Antoine Semenyo's future

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has also been quizzed on the future of Semenyo, with questions surrounding whether he will stay at the Vitality Stadium beyond the January transfer window.

The manager was dismissive of the situation, however, when he told reporters: "We are in November, Antoine is our player, he will continue to be our player.

"In January, you can ask me about the market. But right now, I am not worried about the next market. I am not worried about the situation.

"In January, we will talk about whatever happened, the players we need."
