The Phoenix Suns have remained one of the NBA’s most resilient teams thus far, climbing from a 2–4 start to an 11–7 record and the sixth seed out West.
A roster that has been essentially flipped upside down from the original trio of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker now features the rise of young talent and the pleasantly surprising play of Dillon Brooks. Despite the Jalen Green experiment lasting only two games—due to both offseason and midseason injuries—Phoenix still appears to be searching for a legitimate co-star to pair with Booker.
Bleacher Report’s NBA Trade Block Big Board recently proposed a potential deal that would send Jalen Green, Nick Richards, Rasheer Flemming, and a 2027 first-round pick to Atlanta in exchange for four-time All-Star Trae Young.
Young has lingered on the Hawks’ trade block for the last few seasons, but no move has gained real traction. Now in the midst of rehabbing an MCL sprain, Atlanta has shown signs of being a more fluid and productive offensive team without him on the floor.
Perhaps Young’s time away has given the Hawks clarity—success might not hinge on him being part of the roster. Meanwhile, Phoenix’s ongoing need for another offensive creator, particularly one who can stay healthy, makes Young an intriguing fit next to Booker. His arrival would allow Booker to return to his natural shooting guard role while giving the Suns a true playmaker to orchestrate the offense.
Young has been electric since entering his eighth NBA season, averaging 25.2 points and 9.8 assists with 35.1% shooting from three for his career. Having already led an underdog Hawks team to the Eastern Conference Finals, he knows what it takes to elevate a franchise beyond expectations.
Yes, trades like these are purely hypothetical and would require significant conviction from both organizations—but the idea doesn’t feel out of reach.
