Pittsburgh Steelers shakeup practice squad after multiple key injuries

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made some key changes to their practice squad after some injuries have forced their hand to add more depth.

With the injuries to Ben Skowronek and DK Metcalf at wide receiver, the team decided to add wide receiver Cornell Powell, who came last week to workout for the Steelers.

Powell is a former Super Bowl Champion wide receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs. A former standout wide receiver at Clemson, Powell, 28, was with the Houston Texans earlier this season but was released from the practice squad.

Now, he joins the Steelers for some depth help. He was a fifth-round pick out of Clemson in the 2021 NFL Draft and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash while standing 6-feet tall.

Meanwhile, the team also signed defensive lineman Anthony Goodlow. Goodlow joins the practice squad after Derrick Harmon’s knee injury will force him to miss time, including this week abasing the Buffalo Bills.

Goodlow was hosted by the Steelers for a tryout on Monday, and the team signed him to the next day. An undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State in the 2024 NFL Draft, Goodlow played with the Rams and Cardinals. The Cardinals released Goodlow last week, and now he will join the Steelers’ practice squad.
