Max Dowman scored a stunning solo goal for Arsenal as they downed Bayern Munich in the UEFA Youth League to leave fans in awe of his exploits.

The teenage sensation, who has received first-team recognition this year, struck twice during the 4-2 win for Arsenal against Bayern Munich’s Under-19 side ahead of the two senior heavyweights meeting in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Dowman's second goal, which sealed the game, came with the final kick of the game and has already gone viral. After picking up the ball on the right he breezed past two players before producing a Maradona spin to evade a third defender, then finishing with a stunning chip over the goalkeeper.

The Arsenal ace has been tipped to go to the very top, impressing the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in pre-season and in training, and fan excitement continues to rise.

One on social media said: "What did he do to get past that second fella!?! Wtf!? Messi wasn't this talented at 15!!!" Another claimed: "He’s an absolute joke." A third added: "This kid is going straight to the top".

Yil Gashi had put Bayern ahead in the first half before Dowman equalised before half-time to ensure the teams went in all square. Arsenal soon found themselves 3-1 up thanks to goals from Kyran Thompson and Ceadach O’Neill, but a goal from Ljubo Puljic ensured a nervy finish. Dowman though had the final say.

Dowman, 15, is already the youngest player in Champions League history and has represented England at Under-19 level. He has agreed to sign scholarship terms with Arsenal next summer and will be able to sign a professional contract in December next year.

Mikel Arteta has claimed that Dowman's temperament is something you cannot teach with his courage evident whenever he takes to the pitch. He's already played at Anfield and the Spanish head coach is hugely impressed with his mentality.

He said earlier this month: "What he's done on the pitch - he comes in, the first ball he takes is he takes people on, he starts to dribble and gets a foul. That's personality, that's courage - and you cannot teach that. You have it or you don't. And it doesn't matter what his passport says. You throw him in this context and he is able to adapt and have a good performance."
