Browns' Myles Garrett has more sacks than three NFL teams through 12 weeks

The Cleveland Browns are 3-8, but there's still a lot of reason to tune in every week to watch the Browns play. While Shedeur Sanders is a fascinating starter, the real reason to tune in is to watch Myles Garrett.

He's likely on his way to a Defensive Player of the Year Award, as his production in the pass-rushing game has been nothing short of dominant. But, as Dianna Russini of The Athletic points out, there's a ridiculous feat on top of his already impressive sack total.

Through 12 weeks of the NFL season, Garrett has 18 sacks for the Browns. As Russini noted, those 18 sacks are more than three teams around the NFL, including two teams that have played one more game than Garrett so far this season.

Myles Garrett has more sacks than three NFL teams through 12 weeks

"Myles Garrett has more sacks by himself (18) than three teams through 12 weeks," Russini writes. Those three teams are the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Garrett having more sacks than the Bengals have had all year is a very impressive feat, but it isn't too surprising considering how bad the Bengals' defense has been all season long.

Through Week 12, and 11 games played, the Bengals' defense has totaled 15 sacks, the second fewest in the NFL this season.

The Panthers and 49ers' lack of sack production is the much more interesting story. Both teams have yet to have their bye, which comes in Week 14.

What this means is that Garrett, through 11 games due to his Week 9 bye, has more sacks than the 49ers and Panthers through 12 games. He's played in one fewer game, but has more sacks than both teams.

The Panthers have 16 on the season, the third fewest in the NFL this season. San Francisco has just 13 sacks in 12 games this season, the least amount of sacks in the NFL.

To put the 49ers' 13 sacks this season in perspective, Garrett, in four games from Week 8 through Week 12, has 13 total sacks. In his last four weeks, Garrett has the same number of sacks as the entire 49ers defense has through 12 weeks this season.

While it's near impossible for Garrett to maintain this pace from his last four weeks, if he did, he would finish the season with 39 sacks. Reaching that isn't possible for Garrett, but it puts into perspective how great he's been this last month.

Garrett has 18 sacks through Week 12 this season, more than the Panthers, 49ers, and Bengals. He's the Defensive Player of the Year favorite and has a realistic chance to demolish the current NFL sack record of 22.5
