Manchester City are facing fresh pressure from Claudio Echeverri as the midfielder is now actively pushing for a return to River Plate.
The update comes from Argentine journalist Germán García Grova, who reports that the player has intensified his efforts to leave Bayer Leverkusen and go back to Núñez.
García Grova states that Leverkusen are willing to cut the loan. The German club will not place obstacles if all parties agree to end the deal early. That stance reflects the reality of his spell in the Bundesliga, where the 19-year-old has struggled for minutes and failed to secure a stable role.
The key point, however, remains Manchester City’s position. The Premier League club still prefer to loan him within Europe. Their plan has not changed: they want the midfielder to develop in a competitive environment on the continent before considering any move back to Argentina.
For now, Echeverri remains on loan at Leverkusen, but the situation is fluid. The outcome will depend on City’s next steps and on whether a European solution emerges before the January window.
