The Denver Broncos have been busy during their bye week. After a massive Week 11 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Broncos sat at 9-2, and in great shape to clinch the AFC West, and potentially earn the top seed in the AFC.
In such a great spot, the Broncos decided to reward some of their players during the bye week. Wil Lutz signed an extension to pay him like a top-10 kicker, while center Luke Wattenberg got a significant $48 million raise.
And now, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Broncos are making another big extension, signing veteran defensive lineman Malcolm Roach to a three-year deal worth up to $29.25 million.
Broncos make another big extension decision over bye week
"The Broncos and DT Malcolm Roach have agreed on a three-year contract extension worth up to $29.25 million with $14 million guaranteed, sources tell me and @RapSheet," Pelissero reports. "Another core player locked up."
Denver is spending big during the season, locking up multiple of their own to extensions before they hit free agency. Sean Payton and the Broncos are in great shape, and these extensions further solidify a strong team.
Roach is a good run defender, but has shown an ability to get home as a pass rusher the last two seasons. In 23 games for the Broncos since 2024, Roach has 4.5 sacks to go with 64 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 11 quarterback hits.

In just six games this season, Roach has two sacks, 21 tackles, and three pressures. The former New Orleans Saints lineman missed the start of the season, but his return has bolstered a strong defensive line to be even better.
Denver is 9-2, locking up multiple key contributors on the roster to long-term deals, and looks to have the best chance of winning the AFC West for the first time in a while.
Roach's $29.25 million extension is just another big signing for the Broncos, as George Paton and the front office look to lock up the core of this roster, thanks to Bo Nix being on a rookie contract, freeing up a ton of money and flexibility.
