Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson told he's just as good as Arsenal player who cost £100m

Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson is the toast of the Premier League at the moment, and he’s on course for the World Cup.

Manchester United fans think Anderson is destined for Old Trafford, but the Red Devils won’t be the only club in the mix to land the player in January and beyond.

Anderson was named in the BBC Sport Team of the Week for his efforts against Liverpool, and it would appear that his showing caught the eye at Anfield.

Now, another set of superlatives have been spouted by a pundit, and he believes Anderson is in the same bracket as a player who cost £100 million.

Robbie Mustoe compares Elliot Anderson to Declan Rice

The biggest compliment for Rice is that when he moved to Arsenal from West Ham, nobody spoke too often about his price tag.

That would suggest that he’s more than justified his fee and is considered one of the top midfielders in the country.

Now, Mustoe believes that Anderson is no worse than Rice and has also sent a resounding message to Forest and the club’s supporters.

He said on The 2 Robbies Podcast: “He’s been excellent for the England national team alongside Elliot Anderson, so I know lots of people do appreciate him, but for others, they might be a little less aware of this guy. By the way, how Newcastle came to sell him, is a mystery. I don’t care about PSR issues, sell someone else or take a fine, or even take a points deduction.

“He played in the same position as me, and I honestly see him as another Declan Rice, sheer quality, it’s a big shout, but he’s reliable, determined, great attitude, great mentality, brilliant injury record, and he’s a real star. He’s one of the best. On one hand, he’s up there with the best in the Premier League at the moment.

“Sorry to Nottingham Forest fans, but he’s not going to stay there. He won’t be there next season. He’s that good, he’s going to the World Cup and the big boys, he’s perfect for Manchester United, he’s that type.”

Forest need to demand the same fee for Anderson as West Ham did for Rice

The Reds need to make sure that they get the very best deal for Anderson when the inevitable time comes for him to be sold in the future.

It’s very romantic and awfully misty-eyed to think Forest will be able to keep hold of Anderson beyond the end of the season, and a fight might be on to keep him in January.

However, on a long-term contract, Forest will hold the aces with Anderson and Evangelos Marinakis is hardly a man who will bend over backwards to accommodate any potential suitors.

Which midfielder is better…Declan Rice or Elliot Anderson?

With Rice going for £100 million, it seems only right that Forest command the same for Anderson, especially considering he’s on a similar trajectory as his England teammate.

Anderson looks destined for the top, and as Mustoe quite rightly says, there are very few midfielders in the Premier League currently performing to a higher standard than the Forest man.
