The Dallas Cowboys have revived their season with two straight wins to get back to 5-5-1, including a 21-point comeback that’s tied for the largest in franchise history Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
But Cowboys fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about getting back into the playoff race. The team’s situation remains dire with only six games left in the regular season.
The Cowboys sit in 10th place in the NFC, and only seven teams advance to the playoffs. The San Francisco 49ers hold the last wild-card spot at 8-4, ahead of the Detroit Lions (7-4), Carolina Panthers (6-6) and the Cowboys.
Dallas might have to finish 5-1 to reach the postseason, meaning it needs to split its next two games against the Kansas City Chiefs (6-5) on Thanksgiving and at the Lions on Dec. 4, then sweep its closing stretch against the Minnesota Vikings (4-7), Los Angeles Chargers (7-4), Washington Commanders (3-8) and New York Giants (2-10).
Difficult, but not impossible, and that’s reflected in the betting odds.
Dallas Cowboys’ odds to make the playoffs
DraftKings sportsbook gives the Cowboys 7-1 odds to make the playoffs, which implies a 12.5% chance, while FanDuel is more bullish on Dallas at +540 (15.6%). (The +540 odds mean a bettor would profit $540 on a $100 wager.)
In perhaps a good sign for the Cowboys, Circa Sports, which is known to cater to sharp bettors, gives Dallas even better odds at +455 (18%).
All of those sportsbooks are much higher on the Cowboys than the playoff probability breakdown on NFL.com, which gives the Cowboys a 9% chance. That number will rise to 15% if they win Thursday or fall to 4% if they lose.
Dallas Cowboys’ odds to win the NFC East
As for winning the NFC East, forget about it. Even with Sunday’s victory over the Eagles (8-3), the Cowboys are 35-1 at DraftKings to overtake Philadelphia for the division crown.
The Eagles are -8000 favorites, meaning a bettor would have to wager $8,000 to make a $100 profit on Philadelphia winning the NFC East.
FanDuel pegs Dallas at 33-1, but Circa doesn’t even have odds for the division posted anymore.
Dallas Cowboys’ odds to win Super Bowl
Want to dream big? The Cowboys are 150-1 to win the Super Bowl at DraftKings. FanDuel has Dallas at 100-1, and Circa is at 110-1.
The Los Angeles Rams (9-2) have emerged as the clear favorites to claim the championship at 4-1 at DraftKings.
The Eagles are second at +750, followed by the Chiefs at +950 — notable because the Chiefs, like the Cowboys, are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture right now.
The Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks are 10-1; the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos and Lions are 12-1; the New England Patriots are 13-1; and the Green Bay Packers are 14-1.
After that, it’s a steep drop-off to the 49ers at 35-1.
