Pistons' NBA power rankings spot includes crazy 2-year turnaround stat from ESPN

The Detroit Pistons' turnaround has been well documented.

They won 16 games two seasons ago, then 46 last season, and now they're looking like the best team in the Eastern Conference.

ESPN shared a stat that's even crazier, though.

Two years ago, the Pistons didn't win a game in November. So far this November, Detroit hasn't lost.

That's what helped put the Pistons at the No. 2 spot in ESPN's new NBA power rankings, behind just the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

This is ESPN's blurb from the rankings:

"There is no end in sight for these guys, who are rising in efficiency on both ends of the court and keeping strong as a top-10 team. That's a prerequisite for a championship profile, especially having a top-five defense without a full roster. They were winless in November 2023 and now stand to possibly go undefeated in November two years later. Jaden Ivey has returned, and although on a minutes restriction, looks close to the blur he has always been. Also, Cade Cunningham went through a franchise-record streak: 25.2 points, 10.4 assists and 6.2 rebounds in 10 games, with his shooting percentage of 47.0 only being negatively affected by that one 14 for 45 showing against the Wizards two weeks ago."

The most interesting narrative to follow for the next few months is the trade market for the Pistons.

Will they approach a potential deal as a team that can win a title? If that's their thinking, they could go after a really big fish.

The Pistons could also decide to do things with a more measured strategy, trusting the build they've got going.

Either way, it's an exciting time in Detroit. The Pistons are good again, and that's a really cool thing.
