West Ham United have been handed a timely injury boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Liverpool.

The Hammers have enjoyed a recent upturn in form following a poor start to the season, which ultimately led to Graham Potter’s dismissal in September.

Nuno Espirito Santo has since steadied the ship, with West Ham remaining unbeaten in their last three matches.

Prior to Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, the London club had secured wins over Newcastle United and Burnley, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone.

Crysencio Summerville has been instrumental in West Ham’s resurgence, starting every game under Espirito Santo before missing the Bournemouth encounter due to a calf strain.

The injury ended his run of eight consecutive Premier League starts.

According to the Evening Standard, Summerville is expected to return to training this week and is likely to be available for selection against Liverpool.

The 24-year-old, who joined West Ham last summer from Leeds United, had an injury-hit start to life at the London Stadium but has appeared revitalised this season.

He also played a crucial role off the bench as West Ham thrashed Nottingham Forest 3-0 in August.

West Ham are currently short on attacking options, with striker Niclas Fullkrug still sidelined with a thigh injury and Callum Wilson’s minutes being carefully managed.

Against Bournemouth, Nuno was forced to start 19-year-old midfielder Luis Guilherme for just his second Premier League appearance, as Lucas Paqueta served a one-game suspension.

Summerville’s return will therefore be a welcome boost for the Hammers.

Despite extending their unbeaten run to three games with the Bournemouth draw, Nuno expressed frustration after his side squandered a two-goal lead on the south coast.

This weekend, West Ham return home to face a Liverpool side struggling for form, having suffered six defeats in seven league matches, including a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
