‘Stuff That You’re Not Gonna Allow:’ Ja’Marr Chase Throws Shade, Blame At Jalen Ramsey

The Pittsburgh Steelers are used to having a little extra controversy involved in their games against the Cincinnati Bengals. There have been plenty of notable incidents between the two teams over the years. The most recent example saw Ja’Marr Chase spit on Jalen Ramsey in the Week 11 matchup between the two teams. Chase was suspended for his actions, and he has since issued an apology. However, he didn’t sound very apologetic towards Ramsey when discussing the moment.

“All I can say is it’s limits when stuff happens,” Chase said recently via Cincinnati Bengals Talk’s YouTube channel. “It’s limits. It’s a lot of limits people can control and they’re gonna allow… It’s stuff that you’re gonna allow and stuff that you’re not gonna allow. It’s a limit to everything.”

Chase is intentionally vague and doesn’t expand upon his thoughts too much. However, during that same press conference, he was asked if Ramsey did something that Chase couldn’t allow, and his answer there was a little more pointed.

“Sure, probably something like that.”

It’s important to note that Chase didn’t mention Ramsey in his apology. He made sure to apologize to the entire Steelers organization, but not Ramsey. Therefore, it’s not too surprising to hear him still throw some shade Ramsey’s way.

Chase’s handling of the situation hasn’t been great from the start. Initially, he didn’t get caught spitting on Ramsey. Instead, it looked like Ramsey simply flew off the handle and tried to fight Chase. That led to Ramsey getting ejected, while Chase suffered no consequences.

After the game, Ramsey brought attention to what actually happened. Meanwhile, Chase lied and claimed he didn’t spit on anyone. Soon after, videos came out that showed Chase clearly spitting on Ramsey, catching the receiver in a lie.

His defense after that wasn’t much better. Chase’s argument to get his suspension overturned was that, if he was going to spit on Ramsey, he would’ve spit on the corner’s face, not his chest.

Clearly, that didn’t work, and Chase’s one-game suspension was upheld. While the situation feels over and done with, Chase seems to still be unhappy with Ramsey.

He also confirmed that he hasn’t talked to Ramsey, eliminating the possibility that he apologized to the corner directly.

“We ain’t have no conversations. Nothing like that. I ain’t got no way to get in contact with him.”

Some of Chase’s other comments don’t paint a great picture, either. When asked what he regretted most from the incident with Ramsey, Chase pointed to the way people were talking about him.

“Messing with my name… It’s social media. Everything got an opinion, everybody going to say something. But it is what it is at the end of the day… I don’t really care.”

Unfortunately, the Steelers and Bengals won’t play again this year unless both teams make the playoffs. That seems highly unlikely. Therefore, the rematch between Chase and Ramsey will have to wait until next year. Unless the two resolve things between now and then, that battle will probably include some extra fireworks.
