Trendon Watford to miss at least two weeks with left adductor strain, adding to long list of Sixers injuries

CAMDEN, NJ — Trendon Watford will miss at least two weeks due to a left adductor strain suffered in Tuesday night's blowout loss to the Orlando Magic, the Sixers said after Wednesday’s practice. An MRI confirmed Watford’s strain.

After a hamstring injury prevented Watford from participating in any of training camp or preseason the 25-year-old missed the Sixers’ first three games of the regular season. Since returning, he has established himself as a quality rotation piece, whose ball-handling and playmaking chops at 6-foot-8 have been a boon for the Sixers on the offensive end.

“We were just getting ready to get used to him. He was going to kind of be this Swiss Army knife kind of guy that plays anywhere from one to four for us,” Sixers head coach Nick Nurse said. “…I think he had a good knack of getting us some timely buckets, a good knack of setting up things for other people, can guard multiple positions. So that’s kind of a lot of stuff.”
