Pittsburgh Steelers get major injury updates on multiple stars, including Aaron Rodgers

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers received some critical updates on multiple standout players. While they will be without Broderick Jones and Derrick Harmon, others seem primed to return from injury.

The first to update is quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Mike Tomlin said that he had ‘great optimism’ that Rodgers will play this week, though when Rodgers talked on Wednesday, there were some more questions.

Rodgers added he did not yet feel comfortable enough to take a snap from under center, and it was frustrating to be out on Sunday. He will return to practice on Thursday and Friday and then make a decision from there.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Dk Metcalf also added he did not practice on Wednesday, but that he is okay right now. He got rolled up on twice during the game.

Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith is optimistic he will play after missing the last two weeks with a pec injury. Tomlin added the team continues to be optimistic they will get their star pass rusher back.

Lastly, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is okay after suffering a hip flexor injury against the Bears. Tomlin said the injury is likely to limit him during the week, but he should be able to play against the Buffalo Bills.
