Arne Slot showed he is absolutely out of ideas at Liverpool after worrying decision vs PSV - opinion

Liverpool’s start against PSV was way off the levels it needed to be.

The Reds have had a terrible start to the season, with eight losses in their last 11 games showing just how bad things have gone.

This has left many to question Arne Slot’s job, with the Dutchman needing a win against PSV in the Champions League to at least quieten the noise.

However, their first half performance has not exactly been the most reassuring, with it not being far off the level they showed against Nottingham Forest.

Slot has not helped himself, though, with one of his decisions showing that he is out of ideas completely.

Arne Slot’s team selection shows he is out of ideas

Liverpool’s performance at the weekend was so poor that it was simply inexcusable, with Reds fans even leaving Anfield before full time.

However, despite such a lacklustre outing, Slot decided to make just one change, with this being to replace Alexander Isak with Hugo Ekitike.

With that said, it has been no surprise Liverpool have started the game so poorly, with the Reds looking leggy and PSV getting a lot of joy in attack.

The Dutch side have been pressing them high and winning a lot of the duels, with the effects from Saturday clearly having an impact.

Should Liverpool sack Arne Slot?

“I want to emphasis one more time that I am responsible for the current losses. You are responsible when you’re winning, but you are also responsible when you’re losing.”

With there a good amount of options on the bench too, many fans would have thought he would add pace and energy into the lineup ahead of such an important game, but he opted against it.

If it does not pay off after 90 minutes, it really will show how Slot is out of ideas, with the rumours about his sacking only increasing.

Liverpool killed the game straight away

Due to their form, fans would have thought that Liverpool would come flying out of the blocks, but that did not happen.

Instead, they passed it around the back far too much, with Giorgi Mamardasvili having a lot of the ball, much to the frustration of the crowd.

This killed the atmosphere early on and allowed PSV to get on top, with this being the period where they scored their goal.

Energy will drive the crowd up and this will in turn kick the team on, showing just how important the second half could be in how this game pans out.
