Real Madrid and Liverpool are all set to battle it out for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain midfield mainstay Vitinha.
Vitinha’s sensational rise and his impressive performances for PSG haven’t gone unnoticed, as some of the biggest clubs in Europe are ready to raid the French club to acquire his services. Real Madrid and Liverpool are two of the leading contenders for his signature.
According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts to sign the Portuguese international, as Xabi Alonso seeks more control in midfield. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also making a strong push as Arne Slot looks for more competition in the centre of the park.
The Porto graduate joined PSG in the summer of 2022. While the initial years were not that great, the 25-year-old has certainly taken his game to another level under Luis Enrique. He played a massive part in their treble-winning campaign last time out.
The Portuguese midfielder has carried that form into the new season and has 10 goal contributions in his 17 outings. While he prefers playing as a defensive midfielder, Vitinha can feature in any role in midfield and can even chip in out wide on the flanks when needed.
He is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world and is an integral part of Enrique’s plans. While his contract at PSG runs until 2029, multiple top clubs are ready to try to prise him away.
European giants to battle for Vitinha
Real Madrid and Liverpool are two top clubs that have their eyes set on him. Los Blancos consider him just the perfect fit for their midfield. Since arriving at the club in the summer, Alonso has been looking for another defensive option in the centre of the park.
Vitinha could be an exceptional signing for the Spanish giants as he can compete with Aurelien Tchouameni for a spot in the XI, as well as start alongside him. Meanwhile, Arne Slot wants someone who can compete with Ryan Gravenberch.
The Portuguese midfielder could significantly bolster their entire midfield thanks to his versatility. The Spanish club seem willing to fork out €150 million to sign him. The Reds are also willing to put forward a similar figure to get the deal done.
While both clubs are ready to go all out, PSG have no intentions of letting him leave, and are expected to maintain their stance irrespective of the offer on the table.
