Sydney Brown just gave Eagles fans the reassurance they needed with him starting

With Andrew Mukuba sidelined for the foreseeable future, Vic Fangio and the Eagles will now turn to their Canadian-born third-year safety Sydney Brown to anchor Philadelphia's back end.

While Eagles fans may cringe at the prospect of Brown taking meaningful snaps, Brown spoke with the media, stating that he's ready and has been since camp.

"I think as long as the team's winning, I just own my role for what it is and you know the situation that happened this past weekend just kind of fell in my favor and I'm ready you know I feel like I've been ready since camp, I think I've been since you know I got here, just had a couple of setbacks in the past, it's been something to work back from but no I think I've been ready to go since I came here so."

Eagles need Brown to step up, and he's ready to answer the call

Brown will now get his opportunity, and while no one can doubt his effort, often he's been prone to absent-minded/bone-headed plays that leave fans in awe. Between missed tackles and a lack of football IQ, it felt at one point like Brown might be relegated to special teams duty until his rookie contract was complete.

Despite fans' objections, it seems that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has complete confidence in his third safety as the Eagles sit at the top of the NFC East. With the Eagles' secondary banged up, reserve players like Brown have been forced to step up throughout the season.

While it isn't known if Mukuba will return before the end of the season, Brown believes he's ready to fill the promising shoes of the rookie second-round pick. Brown will be making his second start of the season this Friday against the Bears, and his eighth career start overall. So far this season, he's registered 17 tackles and a blocked punt he returned for a touchdown.
