Why the Celtics court floor is different vs. Pistons with green color

If you turned on your TV to ESPN at all on Wednesday evening, the Boston Celtics were playing the Detroit Pistons. And the floor of the court was green.

Like, fully green. You can see it in the picture at the top of this article, if you haven't seen it.

Aside from the NBA Cup logos in the free throw lanes, it's green.

Why is the floor of the Celtics' court a different green color?

This is an NBA Cup game, that's why.

The league has each team change their home floor during the NBA Cup, which is also known as the in-season tournament.

It's supposed to signify for those watching that this is more than just any regular season game.

It does create some jarring visuals.

A few teams have courts that are rather red.

Many teams have opted for gray looks this season after bolder colors in the past.

Boston has gone with Celtics green. It's certainly loud.
