Like the rest of us, Noni Madueke was all smiles at the final whistle of our Champions League win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
But our winger had extra reason to celebrate, having come off the bench to score his first goal for the club after signing in the summer.
He got on the end of Riccardo Calafiori’s cross in the second half, to put us ahead in the huge top of the table clash.
“It was a top night, great night,” he beamed afterwards. “A Champions League night, so it was perfect to get my first goal for the club and for the win on top. It's a perfect night.
“I had a long injury, it was difficult, but today I made up for it. It's amazing. I can't really say much more man, just amazing!”
Noni added that to beat the German champions – previously unbeaten in all competitions – was also a statement victory.
“Yeah, it's massive, it's a massive show. It's massive what we're producing at the moment, not just in the Champions League, but our domestic form and we need to continue at this level and just keep it going.
“The level we're playing at right now is incredible and we need to try and keep adapting, keep pushing it, keep pushing boundaries and that's the only way we can stay there.”
It was only Noni’s second appearance since returning from the injury he suffered an injury back in September. He’s now desperate to make up for lost time, starting with Sunday’s trip to former club Chelsea. “Yeah, for sure. You go eight weeks without the thing you love the most in the world, so you are chomping at the bit to just be on the pitch as much as possible. I can't wait!”
