The Pittsburgh Steelers have been trying to hold onto a playoff spot as Aaron Rodgers is attempting to return from a broken left wrist. The team is waiting to see if he will be able to return to the field, but we heard from him on Wednesday about the injury. Let’s take a deeper dive into what he said and what that means going forward.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) comes off the field after failing to convert on third down in the second quarter of the NFL Week 11 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025. The Steelers led 10-6 at halftime.
Aaron Rodgers spoke to the media for the first time this week on Wednesday and was asked about possibly playing this week. He would talk about how he is hoping to after missing out last week.
“I wasn’t able to go last week, so I’m hoping for a different outcome this week.”
He also was asked what is the biggest difference between his availability to play in Week 12 or Week 13 and responded with the ability to have more time to heal.
Rodgers reportedly did not practice today, which also happened last week. At this point, it could be a potential smokescreen that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers are trying to throw up to keep the Buffalo Bills guessing. However, coach Mike Tomlin told FOX’s Jay Glazer last week that the bone had not healed enough to minimize the chance of a displacement fracture.
Rodgers has been having a pedestrian season up to this point as [he has completed](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/8439/aaron-rodgers) 192 of 289 (66.4%) of his passes for 1,969 yards with 19 passing touchdowns to seven interceptions. It will be interesting to monitor whether he will be able to get back on the field for Week 13 or if it will be another week with backup quarterback Mason Rudolph on the field.
