Michigan QB Bryce Underwood gets glowing comparison to 2-time Super Bowl champion

Michigan vs. Ohio State needs no introduction, but for Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood, it's his first rodeo in college football's biggest rivalry.

The Wolverines need to beat Ohio State for the fifth time in a row in order to have a chance to contend for the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis one week from Saturday. And, for Underwood, he has a chance to have a legendary moment that will be remembered in Michigan history for years to come.

ESPN's Rece Davis recently spoke highly of Underwood's ceiling, saying that this weekend has a chance to be one for the history books should Michigan beat Ohio State.

His biggest attribute: his arm.

“You know who Bryce Underwood reminds me of? Just when he throws the ball," Davis asked on "The College Gameday Podcast." "When I watch it come out of his hand, he reminds me of John Elway.”

That's high praise from Davis, especially considering Elway won two Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos.

“I don’t know,” Davis said. “It comes out and it comes out nice and it comes out hot… you have two choices sometimes when Underwood throws it like Elway. You catch it or you wear it. It’s up to you."

Davis said Underwood has an ample amount of time to create his own legacy, but could use the inspiration of Elway in order to help his reputation grow.

"I think at Stanford and the Broncos they would call it the Elway cross. It would get through your hands, hit you in the chest, and the seams of the football would leave a cross in your chest and stuff. He can make his legend.”

Underwood may not have to play like Elway but if he does, it will be a game he will look back on forever, knowing that it was the game that he became a household college quarterback, if he isn't already.

By Saturday, the next chapter of Underwood's story will be written.
