Titans sign former first-round pick CB Kaiir Elam

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans signed cornerback Kaiir Elam on Wednesday as the team continues to address depth issues in its secondary.

The former first-round pick has spent time with Buffalo and Dallas during his NFL career. Elam has started in 19 games, including seven this season with the Cowboys.

To make room for Elam on the roster, the Titans waived Samuel Womack.

Elam received the call at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night and made it to Nashville in time to practice Wednesday. He said he believes this fresh start is exactly what he needed.

“I feel like I wouldn’t have come here, I wouldn’t be playing in the NFL if I didn’t think that or believe that,” Elam said. “I think they believe in me or allowing me to come here so all-in-all I just want to be able to put my best foot forward, take the ball away, play aggressive and just show that I can be great.”

The Titans’ secondary has been a weak point this season, partly because of controversial trades made by the organization.
