Former Premier League star Shaun Wright-Phillips has explained why he believes Arsenal defender Ben White could complete a transfer to Chelsea. White has made just six appearances for the Gunners this season, having been forced to remain on the bench for the majority of the campaign.
In fact, the defender has not made an appearance in the Premier League since the opening match of the season.
An injury in the first month of the campaign forced White to be on the sidelines for two Premier League matches. The defender has been an unused substitute in each of Arsenal's last nine top-flight games, with Jurrien Timber often preferred by manager Mikel Arteta at right-back.
The result of White not getting as much game time in the Premier League has seen the defender being tentatively linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Wright-Phillips has now explained why Chelsea could be an ideal destination for White if he continues not to get any minutes at Arsenal.
"I could see a move for Ben White to Chelsea take place next summer," Wright-Phillips said in an interview with Best Betting Sites. "It makes sense, it’s possible.
"I feel quite sorry for Ben because he had an injury, and he was playing so well for Arsenal. He was unbelievable.
"Then he came back and he’d lost his place to Jurrien Timber, who’s the best right-back in the Premier League. It’s going to take something special to unseat him now.

"I don’t think Arsenal would be willing to sell him in the winter window though, because that squad depth is one of Arsenal’s biggest advantages.
"If Timber is injured, White is the man to come in. So selling him would force Arsenal back in the market and I don’t think that’s something they would want to do while they are challenging for the title, and maybe the Champions League."
White was not named in the Arsenal's starting line-up for the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
The next opportunity White will have to be handed a start for the Gunners will be when they travel to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in a top-of-the-table clash in the capital.
