Nets linked to player compared to Raptors' Scottie Barnes

The 2025 NBA Draft obviously wasn't ideal for the [Brooklyn Nets](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/brooklyn-nets), but there are some positives to look forward to with this organization.

Ultimately, the Nets will have to do a better job drafting, but a lot of that will fall on where they sit in the lottery.

It isn't the Nets’ fault that they don't get the picks they want at times, as that's just how the lottery works.

Regarding what the Nets might look for in the future, trying to find that young star is always at the top of the list.

When predicting who that could be in the 2026 NBA Draft, Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report recently predicted that they would select Caleb Wilson, a forward out of North Carolina who is playing like one of the better players in America.

“The idea that the 2026 draft may now have a big four has been discussed. Caleb Wilson's offensive emergence and production have become major storylines, with the freshman averaging 20.6 points on 67.3 percent shooting to go with 10.0 boards, 2.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.8 blocks…

“Flashes of high-IQ passing and shooting range—plus the defensive tools and movement that were always signature selling points deemed translatable—suddenly suggest Wilson is separating into a clear top-five prospect,” [he wrote](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25262746-2026-nba-mock-draft).

Wasserman listed Scottie Barnes as his professional comparison, although Wilson will certainly have to work up to that one day. During the early stages of North Carolina’s season, he's looked the part and really has an opportunity to be a star one day.
