Liverpool slumped to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at home against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, piling more pressure on under-fire manager Arne Slot, while Arsenal ended Bayern Munich's unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic win in London.

In other action, reigning titleholders PSG saw off Tottenham Hotspur in an eight-goal thriller at the Parc des Princes, and Kylian Mbappe scored four goals in a Champions League match for the first time as Real Madrid beat Olympiacos 4-3 in Greece.

Beleaguered English champions Liverpool suffered a ninth defeat in 12 games in all competitions, crumbling in stunning fashion at Anfield against Dutch visitors PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds conceded in just the sixth minute, when Virgil van Dijk committed an inexplicable handball while trying to appeal for a foul after a corner kick, with Ivan Perisic easily converting the ensuing penalty.

Slot's struggling side hit back quickly, with Dominik Szoboszlai tapping in a rebound after PSV goalkeeper Matej Kovar could only parry Cody Gakpo's shot.

Eindhoven came out firing after halftime, however, restoring their lead when Mauro Junior's brilliant pass was steered in expertly by Guus Til.

The home side's latest humiliation, following a 3-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League over the weekend, was confirmed when Couhaib Driouech twice took advantage of Liverpool's calamitous defending in the closing stages.

Premier League leaders Arsenal maintained their 100 percent record in the latest edition of the continental competition, hanging a first setback on Bayern Munich to take over top spot in the 36-team table with a 3-1 win.

The visitors from Germany fell behind at the Emirates in the 22nd minute, as Jurrien Timber flicked Bukayo Saka's corner kick past a flailing Manuel Neuer.

But 17-year-old forward Lennart Karl became the first player to score against the Gunners in the Champions League this season, firing home from Serge Gnabry's excellent volleyed pass. Noni Madueke put Arsenal back on top in the 69th minute, though, before Gabriel Martinelli tapped into an empty net after Neuer raced out and was beaten to the ball near the halfway line.

PSG bounced back from their loss to Bayern earlier this month, with Vitinha scoring a hat-trick in a 5-3 home victory against Spurs.

Mbappe completed his fifth Champions League hat-trick, and added another goal for good measure, helping Real Madrid move into fifth place by edging Olympiacos while also snapping a three-match winless streak.

Last season's runners-up Inter Milan missed a chance to climb to second in the standings, as Jose Gimenez's stoppage-time goal snatched a 2-1 win for hosts Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.

Atalanta rose to 10th place with an impressive 3-0 triumph at Eintracht Frankfurt, while David Luiz scored as Pafos battled to a 2-2 draw against Monaco in Cyprus.
