Did Hamann spotted Liverpool star doing something just 'disgraceful' in PSV Eindhoven loss and…

Liverpool 1-4 PSV: Match Review

Liverpool suffered a 4-1 loss against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League to pile more pressure on head coach Arne Slot.

Didi Hamann believes that Mo Salah will be dropped for Liverpool’s next game if Arne Slot remains in charge.

Despite guiding the Reds to the Premier League title last term, there are sections of fans who believe a change in the dugout is required. Liverpool went into half-time level with PSV after Dominik Szoboszlai equalised for the hosts to cancel out Ivan Perisic’s penalty.

But the Reds were insipid in the second half and the Dutch visitors regained the advantage through Guus Til. That goal was assisted by Mauro Júnior, who skipped beyond Salah with ease before playing a fine through ball.

Salah’s form throughout the campaign has jettisoned having scored 34 goals in all competitions in 2024-25. And if Slot is still Liverpool boss for Sunday’s trip to West Ham United, he believes that the Egypt international could find himself on the bench.

What’s been said

Former Liverpool midfielder Hamann said on RTE: “In a way, I like that he kept the team from the other day (the 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest) because it have them a chance to redeem themselves. But then again, it comes a point where you have got to drop players, even big players.

“I thought Salah might be one of the first ones to be dropped. He has got a decision to make; do you get the sack with Salah or lose your job without him because these are the decisions he has got to make. He has got to make decisions where he picks the players who give him the best chance. He gave him a chance and I think it will be a different story on Sunday.

“What Salah did for the second PSV goal, Slot had one chance to take him off straight away because what he did there was disgraceful for a player the calibre of Salah. It pains me to say because he has been the one carrying the team for the past 7-8 years but what he did and the way he let the player go past him without doing anything to help the team.
