Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has given his verdict on Arne Slot's future after the Reds sank to a new low on Wednesday evening in the Champions League.
Against PSV at Anfield, they suffered a dismal 4-1 defeat that compounds their worst run of form since November 1953 and January 1954. The visitors opened the scoring inside the first few minutes on Wednesday from the penalty spot after Virgil van Dijk was penalised for a needless handball.
Dominik Szoboszlai's equaliser 10 minutes later offered Liverpool a glimmer of hope, but it proved to be a false dawn as they went on to concede a further three goals before the full-time whistle. It is their ninth defeat in 12 games and a run that can only be described as shambolic for the reigning Premier League champions.
The latest defeat comes on the back of consecutive losses by three or more goals after they were thrashed 3-0 at the Etihad by Manchester City, and comfortably beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest on their own turf over the weekend. They now face an away trip to West Ham, followed by the visit of a high-flying Sunderland side next week.
Murphy, who made just shy of 250 appearances for the Reds during his playing days, believes Slot could soon be under serious pressure.
"I think any manager that goes on a run where you're losing constantly, you're always putting yourself in trouble," he told talkSPORT. "Liverpool's form at the moment in the league is relegation form.
"There is only Wolves who have picked up fewer points in the last six games. So [if they were] to lose the next two against West Ham and Sunderland, then yeah of course [he'd be in trouble].
"Let's hope we don't have to have that conversation. I like Slot, especially after meeting him - he's got a bit about him. He's bright, he's warm.

"But it doesn't matter what you've done before or if you're liked. It's irrelevant when you're constantly losing games with Liverpool. So he's got a big, big week ahead of him."
Recent results mean Liverpool are currently 12th in the Premier League table, falling into the bottom half after Everton's win over Manchester United on Monday night. In Europe, Wednesday night's result means they have slipped outside the automatic qualification places and into 13th.
Their next Champions League outing is in early December with a trip to face Inter Milan, which will be followed by a tricky away test at Marseille in the new year. They will round off the league phase of the competition with the visit of Qarabag, but cannot afford to drop many more points if they hope to qualify for the knockout rounds.
