The Dutch media didn't hold back after Arne Slot and Liverpool's season hit an alarming new low against PSV Eindhoven. Just months after leading the Reds to the Premier League title and a lavish summer spending spree, the squad is in the midst of a full-blown crisis.

Twelfth in the Premier League and one place worse off in the Champions League standings, the campaign has lurched from one disastrous result to another, piling enormous pressure on Slot. The campaign plumbed new depths against a club from his homeland as PSV Eindhoven dished out a 4-1 hiding at Anfield.

There was no sugar coating the result, with even Curtis Jones admitting the team was “in the s***” after a ninth defeat in 12 games. As you would expect, the match, and especially the result, was big news in the Netherlands.

Omroep Brabant said PSV "made mincemeat" of Liverpool. The title said: "PSV emerged fresh from the dressing room for the second half. The Liverpool storm seemed to have subsided. Even after the 1-2, PSV still had plenty to do.

"A remarkable achievement; the Eindhoven fans won't be sleeping any time soon. Thanks to this victory, a Champions League winter break suddenly seems quite realistic for Peter Bosz's team."

Dutch News said Slot's side had "crumbled" amid PSV's "second-half blitz." Meanwhile, Eindhoven's Dagblad outlet called it a "big win at a struggling Liverpool" and a "magical November evening in 2025."

De Telegraaf said PSV were "too strong" for Liverpool, pointing out: "PSV immediately put pressure on Liverpool's defence, where many English teams now dig in when visiting Anfield."

The title's reporter at the match wrote: "The away fans went wild with joy, drowning out the hushed Liverpool crowd."

The same outlet carried quotes from Bosz alluding to Slot's increasingly precarious position. He said: "I'm here with a good feeling; it's nice to be a coach now.

Peter Bosz

"When you're on the other side, it's not as good. I've experienced that too. Every coach will experience it at some point."

Bosz candidly admitted he had written off getting anything from the trip to Anfield when the draw was made, saying: "When I saw the draw, I thought: we can get points, but not at Liverpool. Of course, a lot has changed. Liverpool is going through a difficult period."

On his side's early goal, he added: "You know they don't have much confidence. A quick goal like that doesn't improve that, even though we did have to pull out all the stops at times in the first half."
