"Sackable offence"- Arne Slot should be dismissed as Liverpool manager for picking one player

**Arne Slot should be sacked as Liverpool’s head coach for continually picking Ibrahima Konate, according to Reds legend Jamie Carragher.**

The Premier League champions suffered their worst night of the season yet on Wednesday, being thumped 4-1 at home to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Carragher was on CBS Sports duty, and [speaking after the game](https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/jamie-carragher-delivers-gut-punch-32953020), he assessed the situation, admitting that there is immense pressure on Slot to keep his job:

_“I’m angry with the players, if I’m being totally honest, I’m really angry with the players. But it does get to a stage with any manager at any club – I always use this word – untenable, where it almost feels like it can’t go on any longer._

_“I’m not quite there yet, personally in terms of the manager, but I know a lot of supporters will be. I’ve had a lot of time to think about it, because I knew the game was over well before the final whistle.”_

Not only that, but in [footage shown of Carragher watching the game](https://x.com/oconnellhugh/status/1993954127953711237?s=20) in the studio, he calls it a “sackable offence” to keep playing Konate, with the Frenchman badly at fault for PSV’s third goal at Anfield.

**Time for Konate to be dropped by Slot**

-----------------------------------------

Konate has been Liverpool’s worst player this season, in a campaign where so many have struggled, and it is time for him to be taken out of the firing line, for both his own good and the team’s.

Whether the 26-year-old’s head has been turned by a move to Real Madrid remains to be seen, but on current form, the Spanish giants surely won’t be contemplating a move for him.

At his best, Konate is such a formidable player, but he is a shadow of his former self at the moment, and Joe Gomez has to come in for him, assuming he is fit.

It is so sad to see Liverpool in their current situation, with the PSV game a new low, and if they lose away to West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, you have to wonder if Slot’s race will be run.
