Everton face Newcastle United on Saturday evening, aiming to win three games in a row for the first time since May – where they beat the Magpies to achieve that feat.
Everton have had a solid start to the campaign, winning back-to-back games for just the second time this season in the Premier League to maintain hopes of qualifying for European football.
David Moyes has got the best tune out of an Everton side since Carlo Ancelotti’s incredible start to the campaign in 2020-21, and fans will be expectant of a result due to Newcastle’s poor form.
And the Magpies will be without three players this weekend as Eddie Howe aims to put an end to the Toffees’ winning streak, despite Everton getting one over Newcastle as hosts of Magic Weekend 2026.

Three Newcastle players will be out of action for the trip to Everton on Saturday
Newcastle have three players confirmed as being out of action with injury, despite their poor form in the Premier League so far this season.
England veteran and former Everton link Kieran Trippier is one of those. Young full-back Tino Livramento has recently returned to action after coming to the fore in Newcastle’s loss to Marseille and Manchester City, so Trippier’s absence won’t be felt as hard as he suffers on the sidelines.
Joining him will be young striker William Osula. The Danish starlet picked up an ankle injury, something that Eddie Howe says he has been struggling with for a while. Whilst the former Sheffield United star has been able to train and play, his injury has been affecting him and although he’s not far off a return, that may be too soon for Saturday’s clash.

And finally, Yoane Wissa is still yet to make his Magpies debut. Joining from Brentford for £55million in the summer transfer window, Wissa has been out of action ever since, showing a reliance on Nick Woltemade. He’s almost ready for a return but Everton won’t have to deal with him at the weekend.
The rest of Newcastle’s side is available and it will be up to David Moyes to nullify the threat they pose to pick up a third straight win in the Premier League.
Everton could sit fourth in the Premier League should they beat Newcastle
A win for the Toffees would take them on to 21 points – which would be enough to see them go fourth in the table if they can record a win by four or more goals against Eddie Howe’s side.
However, there are seven teams above them who could halt Everton from flying up the table.
Sunderland and Bournemouth face each other, so an Everton win and a draw at the Stadium of Light would see Everton sit at least ninth. Manchester United also face Crystal Palace away, and an Everton win by more goals than the Red Devils beating the Eagles would also see them leapfrog the pair, putting Everton seventh.
Those results, alongside Tottenham failing to beat Fulham, Aston Villa losing to Wolves and Brighton only producing a draw or loss against Nottingham Forest, would therefore see the Toffees go at least fifth.
And a four-goal swing with Villa would see Everton sit fourth for the first time since September 2021. Of course, it is an unlikely scenario, but you can never say never in the Premier League.
